hand needle felted painting

A colorful cardinal needle needle felted onto homespun-type cotton fabric. Framed in an 8" embroidery hoop with a loop for hanging. The hoop has been stained and the back is finished with heavy felt.
Needle felting is a totally dry process in which loose, dyed wool fibers are repeatedly stabbed into a background using special small barbed needles. The constant movement tangles the fibers firmly into position. Framed without glass to enhance the texture, it requires no special care -- simply an occasional flick of a feather or microfiber duster.
