Yanina Siani was born and raised in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. She started her artistic education at early age and graduated from Art College in Kiev, Ukraine. In years that followed, she continued her education through private lessons with well known Ukrainian artists. She tested her ability to work on the large scale when she worked as a book illustrator. In her artistic work Yanina uses a wide range of materials and techniques including oil, acrylic and watercolor.
Yanina trained as a silversmith in Ukraine and spent several years fabricating fine jewelry with materials traditionally perceived as precious. In 1998 she moved to New York City to work as a bench jeweler. Yanina resides and has worked in her studio in New Jersey since 2003. It is here that she creates custom and one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art jewelry.
Yanina's designs are hand-fabricated around colorful gemstones with sterling silver, gold and copper. Using traditional metalsmithing techniques, her handcrafted pieces begin as raw wire and/or sheets of sterling silver. Yanina utilizes hand-patterned, formed, soldered and polished techniques and completes her designs with patina finish. Her collection displays a colorful palette of stones including turquoise, lapis, amethyst, coral and many more custom cut stones.
