hand needle felted wool painting

The dramatic colors of a Rainbow Lorikeet feather are created from blending and layering of many types of wool onto a background of ivory wool felt. Framed in brown, 10x10. Finished on the back with dust cover and picture wire for hanging.
Needle felting is a totally dry process in which loose, dyed wool fibers are repeatedly stabbed into a background using special small barbed needles. The constant movement tangles the fibers firmly into position. Framed without glass to enhance the texture, it requires no special care -- simply an occasional flick of a microfiber duster.
