Kingfisher. This tiny colorful bird is needled in shades of teal, blue, gold, black and white. It is created with merino blend wools on a beige linen background and is framed in brown (10x10) with dustcover and hanging wire.
Needle felting is a totally dry process in which loose, dyed wool fibers are repeatedly stabbed into a background using special small barbed needles. The constant movement tangles the fibers firmly into position. Framed without glass to enhance the texture, it requires no special care -- simply an occasional flick of a microfiber duster.
